Our Story

Wild Belfast was born in August 2022 after a series of public meetings by members of the community with an ambition to play a greater role in the local protection and enhancement of biodiversity throughout Belfast.

Our group consists of a mixture of ecologists, community workers, students, urban designers, architects and other disciplines that share a desire to make Belfast a greener, more biodiverse and more liveable city; one that we are proud to call home!

Our Mission
Provide a platform for members and the community in terms of guidance and resources to understand, protect and enhance biodiversity throughout Belfast:

  1. Promote biodiversity through advocation and lobbying.
  2. Promote the recording of biodiversity.
  3. Upskill communities and the group’s members to further the group's purposes.
  4.  Deliver practical, creative and engaging action to affect change.
  5. Embed our activities within the framework of the United Nations  Sustainable Development Goals.
